The American Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand
The American Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand exists to promote two-way trade and investment relationships primarily between New Zealand and the United States and also within the Asia-Pacific region. New Zealand United States trade and investment have a considerable impact on the New Zealand economy. The USA has become New Zealand’s second largest trading partner with trade totaling in excess of $NZ 9 billion. US companies operating in New Zealand account for investment totaling in excess of $NZ12.6 billion and thousands of jobs. [↑] |
American Club
The first meeting of the American Club was held in March 1966. Since then it has continued to provide a venue for persons sharing an interest in America. The Club, an incorporated society, has the following objectives: - Promote and maintain understanding and friendship between the peoples of the United States of America and New Zealand;
- Promote, foster, preserve and strengthen friendship between members;
- Encourage and promote an interest in members and others an interest in patriotic, historical, cultural and educational matters;
- Foster an awareness of American national holidays.

American Club Christchurch
Welcome to the American Club of Christchurch! We’re a group of Americans and families and friends of Americans living in the Christchurch area. We aim to promote and maintain mutual goodwill and respect and strengthen cooperation and friendship between members of the Club and local citizens. We encourage and promote American patriotic, historical, cultural, social and sporting events. We enjoy and celebrate American national holidays and traditions. Regular varied light-hearted events are held, ranging from Fourth of July, Halloweeen, Thanksgiving, Hawaiian Luau, Easter Egg Hunt, and Super Bowl parties, and usually monthly get togethers. Some are family functions and some are more for adults. We have also enjoyed having an Embassy speaker, Ms McKean, speak to our members. Visitors and newcomers are most welcome to attend our functions as guests. Our next function is a special public Tribute to Fallen 9/11 victims. This Tribute will take place at the Firefighters’ Reserve in central Christchurch at 11am on September 11. American Women’s Network
The American Women’s Network is a social group that welcomes women in the community from the USA wanting to meet other American women living in Wellington, New Zealand. We have monthly meetings that include a range of social activities, networking opportunities, and holiday events. We sponsor an annual Thanksgiving dinner that attracts both Americans and New Zealanders from all over Wellington. In January, the members get together to organise a calendar of events for the year and select coordinators to host the activities. There is an annual membership fee, which covers the expense of venue rental, website administration, etc. Our activities are primarily based in Wellington and surrounding suburbs. The New Zealand - American Association is an incorporated society and was formed in 1939 in order to: - promote understanding and friendship between Americans and New Zealanders,
- contribute towards a better understanding of the American way of life, by New Zealanders,
- cooperate in exchange visits,
- extend hospitality to American visitors,
- encourage cooperation in science, education, commerce and the arts,
- celebrate significant American Anniversaries.
Our mission is neither political nor economic: Instead the NZAA places a distinct focus on people to people cooperation, cultural understanding, and regular social and networking opportunities. Part of that is supporting unique events such as lectures by visiting scholars and artists, regular newsletters and other publications, and the celebration of major holidays and anniversaries. One of our functions is to assist Americans as they adjust to the New Zealand lifestyle and Kiwis to adjust to the American lifestyle. We have several social events each year, usually themed around an American holiday. However we also get together to celebrate and enjoy the New Zealand way of life.
