The New Zealand - American Association is an incorporated society and was formed in 1939 in order to:

  • promote understanding and friendship between Americans and New Zealanders,
  • contribute towards a better understanding of the American way of life, by New Zealanders,
  • cooperate in exchange visits,
  • extend hospitality to American visitors,
  • encourage cooperation in science, education, commerce and the arts,
  • celebrate significant American Anniversaries.

Our mission is neither political nor economic: Instead the NZAA places a distinct focus on people to people cooperation, cultural understanding, and regular social and networking opportunities. Part of that is supporting unique events such as lectures by visiting scholars and artists, regular newsletters and other publications, and the celebration of major holidays and anniversaries. These core activities are about friendship and new or stronger connections between our two countries.

The Wanganui Branch of the New Zealand American Association is a non-profit, social organization. One of our functions is to assist Americans as they adjust to the New Zealand lifestyle and Kiwis to adjust to the American lifestyle. We have several social events each year, usually themed around an American holiday. However we also get together to celebrate and enjoy the New Zealand way of life.

The Wanganui Branch of the NZAA meets socially on the 2nd Friday of every month at Rosie O'Grady's, (Cnr Guyton & St. Hill Streets, Wanganui) from 5:00pm onwards. Everyone is cordially invited to join us.
