Step 3 - Pay application fee and purchase courier bag:
Every applicant must pay the non-refundable, Machine-Readable Visa (MRV) application fee. You can pay this fee at any New Zealand Post Shop by cash or EFTPOS (but not by credit card or cheque). Simply ask to pay the fee for a US visa and the Post Shop staff will be able to help you. You will need to bring your passport with you to the Post Shop for identification. Be sure to retain the receipt and bring it with you to the interview.
The fees page of this site has a schedule of the current fees for different services.
All applicants for F, M or J visas must also pay the SEVIS Fee by credit card at http://www.fmjfee.com/. Be sure to print a copy of your receipt and bring it with you to the interview.
Also, note that if you are not traveling on a passport from New Zealand, Samoa, Great Britain, or Korea, you may have to pay an additional fee, known as a reciprocity fee. These fees must be paid at the Consulate General, either by certified bank check or cash (U.S. or New Zealand currency is accepted.) You will be informed of any additional fees at the time of the interview. You may also check the web site of the Bureau of Consular Affairs for more information.
You will need to provide the Consulate General with a pre-paid, self-addressed courier bag at the time of your interview, which will be used to return your passport and visa to you. You may want to purchase this at the Post Shop when you pay the MRV application fee. We strongly suggest you purchase a "Track & Trace" bag for security reasons. Other courier companies may also be used, but some do not pick up from the Consulate General on a daily basis.
Please retain one tracking number sticker from the courier bag. You will NOT able to pick-up your passport from the Consulate General in person.
